Sacramento Law Enforcement Endorse Dr. Richard Pan for State Senate

Sacramento – Citing Dr. Richard Pan’s commitment to building a healthy and safe Sacramento, the Sacramento District Attorney, Fire Fighters, Sheriff, Crime Victims United and Police came together at a press conference today to announce their endorsement of Dr. Pan for Senate.

“Dr. Pan has been a champion of public safety in the legislature,” said District Attorney Jan Scully. “As an effective voice and advocate for the health and safety of our community, I support Dr. Pan for the California State Senate.”

“Dr. Pan works tirelessly to make sure law enforcement and first responders have the tools we need to protect the people of Sacramento,” said Sacramento Sheriff Scott Jones. “Sacramento is a safer place to live because of the work of Dr. Pan and I hope he continues to fight for our community in the State Senate.”

“When budget cuts threatened to close fire stations, Dr. Pan wrote legislation to sustain those vital services and keep our communities safe,” said Brian Rice, President of the Sacramento Area Fire Fighters. “Dr. Pan has been a champion on public safety issues, and Sacramento firefighters are proud to endorse Dr. Pan for State Senate.”

“Dr. Pan is the only candidate in this race that has consistently stood-up for victims and voted against child abusers and sexual predators,” said Harriet Salarno, President of Crime Victims United. “Dr. Pan genuinely cares about the people he represents, and you can see that in everything he does, from volunteering to treat patients every week, to partnering with law enforcement to keep people from becoming victims. When you care about people, you protect them, and that is exactly what Dr. Pan is all about.”

“From his work protecting seniors from elder abuse, to creating a statewide, online database to help track down thieves, and getting his legislation passed that would exempt POST from state agency hiring restrictions, allowing POST to retain and hire the best of the best, Dr. Pan has worked with law enforcement to keep our communities safe,” said Mark Helms, Lodi Police Chief and representative of the California Police Chiefs Association. “He is an effective voice in the Legislature and has delivered for us time and time again.”

While Dr. Pan has only served as a legislator for four years, his pubic safety record is extensive and includes stopping fire station closures and keeping river rescue running by bringing $6 million in new federal money for Sacramento and Elk Grove and establishing an ongoing federal funding source for those important services.

Dr. Pan also created a statewide database to crack down on metal theft and the sale of stolen goods, raised more than $240,000 for the Red Cross through legislation to fund emergency disaster relief, fought to save key police training programs (POST) and expand training programs to include elder abuse.
